Our Paradox

Oh. I see. I said I knew you. Like you said you knew me.
But our souls keep asking each other what we see.
What is it that we saw in who we are? Longing for a closer look from afar.
Am I so dark that you read me through my scars? And when I show light, will you acknowledge my might?

We collided while you were bored among stars.
I edified dry among academics befriended in pretense.
Not sure who pretended or felt threatened so I left it.
I thought I could not be them as you believe I could not be you.
So we met. Blended and watched only to forget.
I was you, sitting there staring at me. Mirroring a leaf that didn’t recognize its tree.
It’s why you noticed me. And asked where I came from. And why these words unfold the way they do.
It’s why we continue to move separately but together towards what feels new.
