A Toast

For souls darker than most
to whom which floats
in darkness we’re cloaked
dusted down to the roach.

Thank you.

Without them there’s no me
and without me no you
too close to the sun they say
to fool those stuck in magic
use it wisely and don’t know it all
because no one should
until we become stardust
so what is known and true
in our journey’s approach
is long overdue
perceived in many hues
we’ve paid our dues
in many lives
me and them
you and I
this is forever
my eternal flame
I thought you knew
so sing a song
somewhere between
thugs and grunge
hear the soundscape
and follow me now
here’s a key
wait for me
in love you must drown
hence the sound
only imagined in clouds.
